Our Physicians

Palmetto Bone & Joint’s team of experienced orthopedic surgeons is energetic and dedicated to delivering quality care. We treat everyone with respect and compassion, regardless of their ability to pay. We also believe in giving back to the community. Our surgeons participate in local free medical clinics and see patients at the Whitten Center.

Dr. Phillip Milner 

Dr. Milner is a board certified orthopedic surgeon. He earned his medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency in orthopedics at the Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the South Carolina Medical Association and the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics. Dr. Milner enjoys horse racing, golfing and watching high school and college sports.

Dr. John Hibbitts

Dr. Hibbitts is a board certified orthopedic surgeon and specializes in sports medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas and completed his residency at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia.
Dr. Hibbitts completed his fellowship at Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, under the training of Dr. Frank Noyes. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Medical Association, South Carolina Medical Association, and Texas Medical Association. Dr. Hibbitts enjoys rugby, karate and bodybuilding. 

Dr. William Owens

Dr. Owens is a board certified orthopedic surgeon. He earned his medical degree and completed his residency at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He went on to complete a fellowship in hand, upper extremity and microvascular surgery at the University of Florida. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the South Carolina Orthopedic Association, the Florida Orthopedic Association, and the Florida Hand Society. Dr. Owens enjoys golfing and snow skiing. 

Dr. James Loging

Dr. Loging is a native of newberry county and graduate of Mid-Carolina High School. He received his bachelors degree with honors from the University of South Carolina and earned his medical degree with honors from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Dr. Loging completed his orthopedic internship and orthopedic surgery residency at Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center.
He is a board certified orthopedic surgeon, a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a member of the South Carolina Orthopaedic Association. Dr. Loging has also received his Masters of Business Administration from the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business. Dr. Loging enjoys spending time with his family, running, competing in triathlons, wake surfing on the lake, scuba diving, and photography.  Dr. Loging's Website

Giridhar Gundu, MD

Dr. Gundu is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, a medical specialty that seeks to address bone and joint issues without surgery. Dr. Gundu earned his medical degree from Deccan College of Medical Sciences. He attended Eastern Kentucky University where he earned a Masters in Public Health. He then did his internship and residency in general surgery and physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
During his residency, he was selected the chief resident, a high honor. Additionally, he has conducted research in various areas of interventional pain management. Dr. Gundu enjoys working closely with his patients to determine the best way to treat and eliminate back pain and other issues. Away from medicine, Dr. Gundu enjoys playing basketball, cooking, guitar, and a good game of chess. 

Jacquelyn Van Dam, MD

Dr. Van Dam is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, a medical specialty that seeks to address bone and joint issues without surgery. Dr. Van Dam earned her medical degree from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and completed her internship in internal medicine and her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Emory University. While at Emory, she was awarded "Resident of the Year", a high honor. When not at work, Dr. Van Dam enjoys her two children, her dogs, running, swimming, reading, and coaching a kids' running group. 

Dr. Alaric Van Dam, MD

Dr. Alaric Van Dam is a board certified physician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He earned his medical degree for Wright State University with honors. He completed his residency at Emory University where he served as Chief Resident and was awarded Resident of the Year. Dr. Van Dam enjoys getting to know his patients and working to improve their quality of life. He specializes in multiple imaging techniques to aid in diagnostic evaluation as well as accurate interventional procedures. He treats musculoskeletal problems and spine conditions with modern day medications and technology. He looks forward to developing a center of orthopedic excellence in the Chapin community. In his leisure, he enjoys time with his family and Golden Retriever, Olivia, especially when it's in the great outdoors.

Mark Wilson, MD

Dr Wilson is a board eligible orthopaedic surgeon and specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. He was raised in Chapin, SC and graduated from Chapin High School. He attended the Honor’s College at the University of South Carolina followed by medical school at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Dr Wilson then completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Florida Jacksonville where in his fifth year he was peer selected as “Chief Resident.”
Following residency, Dr Wilson pursued a fellowship in sports medicine at Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center and during his time there, he published multiple techniques on arthroscopic shoulder surgery. Dr Wilson is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He specializes in taking care of athletes and the athletic population in addition to arthroscopic surgery and total shoulder arthroplasty. When not working, Dr Wilson can be found playing golf or ice hockey and enjoying Lake Murray with his wife and two sons.
